Welcome Cllr David Barton
A serving Town Councillor of Immingham has defected to the Liberal Democrats.
Formerly Independent, Councillor David Barton representing Humber Ward, has sat on Immingham Town Council for 12 years and previously held the position as Immingham's Town Mayor.
He is very keen on community politics and is noted for attempting to solve varying problems brought to him by local residents in Immingham and surrounding areas.
Councillor David Barton said, "I have been deeply impressed by the Liberal Democrat's both locally and nationally.
"Despite the party being smaller than either Labour or the Conservatives, their passion and drive to deliver change to their communities is unparalleled. Their willingness to meet regularly with their residents and to be seen to work on a daily basis within their wards, all year round, is particularly refreshing.
"It is a real pleasure to be joining such a forward thinking and active team".
The Liberal Democrats new group Leader, Councillor Nicola Aisthorpe said, "We are delighted to welcome Councillor Barton to our party. We are absolutely certain he will be a great asset to the team with his extensive experience and knowledge of the Immingham area.
"Working together will enable us to continue to hold the Conservative group to their promises. I am sure that the residents of Immingham will benefit from this change".
