Prominent people doing good work in the community are set to be recognised and celebrated as nominations for the fourth annual Civic Awards (2025) are now open.

The awards recognise outstanding contributions to the community in a variety of categories and focus on several key values. These include:

Excellence – promoting the highest standards in community service;

Sustainability – encouraging practices that support long-term environmental and resource conservation;

Inclusiveness –ensuring that contributions from diverse groups and individuals are recognised and valued;

Innovation – rewarding creative and forward-thinking approaches to community challenges.

The awards also have a number of goals, such as recognition of

Community Improvement –projects and individuals that have made a positive impact on local communities;

Cultural Enrichment – celebrating contributions that enhance the cultural and social fabric of the community;

Public Participation – encouraging community involvement in the nomination and judging process to ensure a broad representation of voices.

Last year, more than 100 nominations were received from members of the public across eight categories. This year also includes a new category, which will reward the tremendous contributions of foster carers.

Cllr Stephen Beasant, The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire, launched the awards for 2025 saying he was thrilled that they are returning for another year, after his involvement in 2023. “I’m proud to be launching the fourth annual Civic Awards and celebrating community spirit in North East Lincolnshire,” he said.

“During my time as Mayor, I’m privileged to meet hundreds of people who give up their time to help others and make our borough a better place for everyone. These awards are a perfect way to say thank you to someone you know who is making a difference.”

“I am also thrilled to see the inclusion of the Foster Carer’s Impact Award this time, as this is a cause close to my heart in my Mayoral Year, and one which truly encompasses unsung heroes.

“I would urge anyone who knows of a bright star in the area to get themselves online and submit their nomination.”
