Following our Liberal Democrat campaign and online petition, £90,000 funding has been secured from Public Health reserves to pilot a non-convicted Perpetrator Programme aimed at preventing domestic abuse in North East Lincolnshire.
With an average of 14 to 15 cases of violence against women and girls reported daily in North East Lincolnshire, this is a vital initiative that targets early intervention - stopping domestic abuse before it escalates into violence or legal action. By proactively changing behaviour, it protects potential victims and creates safer communities.
“This is a major step forward in tackling domestic abuse in our area,” said Councillor Nicola Aisthorpe. “For too long, support has focused on dealing with the aftermath rather than stopping abuse at its source. This programme will help challenge harmful behaviours before they turn into criminal acts or life-altering trauma. I’m proud that our Liberal Democrat campaign has led to this result – but we must keep pushing to make it permanent. The safety of women and girls in North East Lincolnshire must remain a priority.”
While this funding marks a significant achievement, lasting impact requires ongoing commitment. Sign our petition to secure this initiative as a long-term priority and ensure prevention continues to receive essential support in our area. Click the link here: Reinstate The Perpetrator Programme
