This winter, families across North East Lincolnshire are struggling more than ever. Energy bills are soaring, water rates are rising, and the cost of the weekly shop keeps going up. Many are being forced to make impossible choices just to get by.

Instead of offering support, the Labour Government is making things worse. They’ve introduced the biggest tax hikes in 30 years, cut vital winter fuel payments for pensioners, increased bus fares, and their economic policies have led to slower growth, leaving families with even less.

​

To help those in need, the Grimsby and Cleethorpes Liberal Democrat team has launched a webpage with advice, resources, and information to help those struggling during these tough times.

 

We hope it’s a useful resource for anyone needing support:

Household Support Fund:

This scheme is running until March 2024 to help with the cost of food, energy and other household bills and wider essentials. The maximum payment available to each household is £250. Find out if you are eligible here.

Warm Home Discount:

You could get £150 off your electricity bill for winter 2023 to 2024 under the Warm Home Discount Scheme. Visit this website for further details on how to apply.

Housing Grants and Loans:

Financial Support, Advice and Guidance:

Condensation, Damp and Mould:

If left untreated, mould can cause long-term damage to a property, as well as having a sometimes-devastating impact on occupants’ health. Visit this website for guidance and advice. 

 

Homelessness and Housing Advice:

If you are homeless or at risk of losing your home within the next 56 days, you must seek help and advise immediately. This website can help. 

 

Sign up to the Big Community Switch:

Can’t Afford to Pay your Council Tax Bill:

Do not ignore the letters if you are struggling to pay your Council Tax or are behind with your payments. The best thing to do is contact the Council to discuss ways to help you. To speak to the Council's debt management team call 0300 3030164 and select option 2, and visit the website for further details. 

 

Extra Money for Rent and Council Tax:

You can apply for extra help with your housing costs, known as Discretionary Housing Payments, if you receive Housing Benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit.In exceptional circumstances, the money can also be used to help you pay rent in advance to move into a new property.Visit the website for more information and to apply.

Mental Health:

It's important to remember you are not alone, and there is support available 24 hours a day, seven days a week - even over Christmas. Navigo offers a range of mental health services across North East Lincolnshire. Call 01472 256256 (option 3) for support or text ORANGE to 85258.

Young Minds Matter supports young people with mental health and emotional health. Call 01472 626100, 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. For out-of-hours support, contact Navigo above.

Bereavement Support:

Service offers free one-to-one or group support, for anyone suffering from grief. Call the team on 01472 250623 to arrange the most appropriate support.
